Insurance Software Development Company

Risk analytics, claims processing and document AI for insurance companies; built by senior engineers

Custom Software Development for Insurance Companies

JBS Dev is a custom software development company founded in 1999. We build custom software for insurance companies. Our teams are 100% senior level. We are an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner. We build risk analytics, document AI, claim and eligibility file processing, and secure applications. We know how to handle PHI data and comply with HIPAA.

What We Build for Insurance Companies

Risk Analytics and Scoring Models

We built a multi-tenant data pipeline and a machine learning analytics engine for a financial information services company. The company creates tools to analyze, assess and manage risk in peer-to-peer lending. The system uses Bayesian statistics, regression, K-Means clustering and decision trees on Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Python and Django. It processed more than one hundred million records for batch and near real-time analytics. The engine assesses, forecasts and determines the risk factor of each loan.

Document Search and Proposal Drafting With Generative AI

A market leader in safety engineering and risk mitigation needed help with research and proposals. Staff spent hours searching manuals, guidelines and reports. Proposals started from scratch. We built a knowledge base and proposal tool on Amazon Bedrock, AWS Lambda, Amazon OpenSearch and Amazon RDS. The tool has single sign-on and hallucination detection. Employees create proposals that are 80-90% complete.

Claim and Eligibility File Processing

Scripta Insights is a pharmacy benefits company that serves payers and health plans. The platform processes eligibility and claim files under HIPAA. We moved the platform from Amazon EC2 to AWS Lambda, files to Amazon S3 and databases to Amazon RDS. We moved Python 2 to Python 3. Scripta computes drug savings for each health plan and generates more reports on a regular basis. For a large regional bank, we automated about 30,000 records a day. No manual step remains.

Intelligent Document Processing

For a healthcare technology company, Amazon Bedrock models extract medications, dosages and notes from medical records into standard JSON. Some records were hundreds of pages, in mixed PDF formats. The stack is AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Amazon CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail. In one medical record review project, review that took days now completes in seconds. A person signs off on anything involving money, patient records or signatures.

Application and API Security

For a fintech startup, we protected a website and mobile app against DDoS and credential stuffing attacks. We used AWS WAF, rate limits, Google reCAPTCHA, login signature hashing, PagerDuty and Sumo Logic alerts. AI work runs in your own AWS or Azure account with role-based access. We do not send your data to a model that trains on it.

Technologies We Use

These are the tools named in our insurance, risk and claims work on this page.

  • Data and machine learning: Amazon EMR, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Bayesian statistics, regression, K-Means clustering, decision trees
  • Generative AI: Amazon Bedrock, Amazon OpenSearch, single sign-on, hallucination detection
  • Cloud and back end: AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Python, Django, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail
  • Security: AWS WAF, rate limits, Google reCAPTCHA, PagerDuty and Sumo Logic alerts

How Our Engineering Teams Work

Every engineer is senior level and clears a peer technical review, an advanced technical review and a background check. Our engineers can be your full team, or work beside your IT staff. We use continuous integration and continuous delivery. You see working software early and often. We sign an NDA before technical discussions.

Start With a Free Technology Assessment

The Quick Launch Lab offers a complimentary technology assessment. It covers off-the-shelf versus extend current versus custom solution, cloud configuration, security or compliance audits, data and integration issues. You receive a document with all findings and recommendations. There is no obligation to move forward. You keep the deliverable.

Risk, Claims and Document AI Case Studies

Generative AI Solution for Efficient Knowledge Retrieval and Proposal Generation

We built a knowledge base and proposal tool on Amazon Bedrock for a safety engineering and risk mitigation firm. Proposals come out 80 to 90 percent complete.

Innovative Large Multi-Tenanted System Solution Delivers Real-Time Analytics to Analyze, Assess, and Manage Risk

We built a machine learning engine that determines the risk factor of each loan. The system processes more than one hundred million records.

Delivering Transparency and Savings to the Prescription Drug Market

We moved a pharmacy benefits platform for payers and health plans to AWS Lambda. The platform processes eligibility and claim files under HIPAA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you build software for insurance companies?

Yes. JBS Dev builds custom software for insurance companies. We build risk analytics, document AI, claim and eligibility file processing, and secure applications.

How do you protect policyholder and patient data?

We know how to handle PHI data and comply with HIPAA. AI work runs in your own AWS or Azure account with role-based access. We do not send your data to a model that trains on it. AWS WAF and rate limits make attacks much more difficult. We sign an NDA before technical discussions.

Can AI read claim documents and medical records?

Yes. Amazon Bedrock models extract medications, dosages and notes from medical records into standard JSON. One record review went from days to seconds. A person signs off on anything involving money, patient records or signatures.

Can you build risk scoring models?

Yes. We built a machine learning engine that determines the risk factor of each loan, over more than one hundred million records. We use Bayesian statistics, regression, K-Means, and decision trees.

Who works on our project?

100% senior-level engineers work on your project. Each one clears a peer technical review, an advanced technical review and a background check. They can be your full team or work beside your IT staff.
