Rather than patch the aging PowerApps architecture, JBS Dev rebuilt the field measurement app mobile application from the ground up using current Power Platform best practices, modern offline-compatibility architecture, enhanced UI/UX design, and field-requested capabilities.

Phase 1: Modern Technical Foundation

  • Migrated from deprecated SaveData/LoadData offline model to current Power Platform offline-compatibility architecture
  • Updated data source integration to pull from Bookable Resource Booking tables instead of legacy Job (Sales) tables
  • Rebuilt UI/UX to match updated Install Mobile app design, creating consistency across the mobile app suite
  • Consolidated customer information panels and redesigned read-only detail screens to reduce navigation steps
  • Limited appointment date range to ±7 days to reduce memory consumption and protect app performance

Phase 2: Enhanced Validation and Workflow Controls

  • Implemented per-screen validation gates, catching missing or incorrect data before technicians proceed to next step
  • Replaced finish-job popup with full Summary Review screen serving as mandatory final verification gate
  • Added booking status controls allowing measure techs to set status (Traveling → In Progress → On Break)
  • Moved Lead Test Authorization workflow before measurement entry when required (controlled by backend flag)
  • Removed technician ability to add, clone, or delete contract lines to reduce operational risk

Phase 3: New Field-Requested Capabilities

  • Added interactive map with route visualization, appointment pins, and clickable appointment details
  • Enabled in-app photo annotation/drawing allowing technicians to mark measurements directly on captured photos
  • Added 11th photo tile labeled "Diagram" (required for specific markets, controlled by backend flags)
  • Added in-app contract PDF viewer, eliminating need to switch apps to cross-check contract lines
  • Added search functionality on labor screen, eliminating need to scroll through long market-specific lists

The solution implemented automatic email delivery of signed lead authorization forms to customers, ensured new data captured in field measurement app surfaces correctly in downstream Installer and Service apps, and maintained seamless app-to-app data chain: sales app → field measurement app → Installer App → Service App. The platform is built on Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps), Microsoft Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Bookable Resource Booking tables, current Power Platform offline-compatibility model, and custom component library.
